- Automotive EMC
Automotive EMC testing ensures that vehicles and their electrical/electronic sub-assemblies (ESAs) meet strict standards for safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.
It plays a critical role in:
• Safety –Preventing electromagnetic interference from causing malfunctions in critical systems such as braking, steering, airbags and engine control.
• Performance –Ensuring that all on-board electronic systems operate reliably in real-world electromagnetic environments and do not interfere with one another or with external devices (mobile phones, GPS, etc.).
Regulatory compliance – Demonstrating conformance with international EMC standards and obtaining type approval, which is mandatory for selling vehicles and ESAs in many markets (e.g., UN ECE, EU).
• Consumer confidence – Providing assurance that vehicles are safe, reliable and built to a high standard of quality.
• Technological advancement –Supporting the integration of new technologies (EVs, ADAS, connected cars) by ensuring they are EMC compliant and future-ready.
ECE Regulation R10
ECE R10 ensures that vehicles and ESAs meet stringent electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
It is recognized in more than 50 countries and references established international EMC standards such as CISPR 12, CISPR 25, IEC 61000-4-4/-5, and ISO 7637-2.
Compliance requires EMC testing, technical documentation, production control and quality certification.
Stancer Automotive EMC Testing Capabilities
Stancer Testing-Lab offers a complete suite of automotive EMC testing solutions with robust technical infrastructure and accreditation-ready processes:
- Compliance with ECE Regulation 10 (R10), CISPR 12, and CISPR 25
- Brand-new, dome-shaped, spacious EMC chamber specifically designed to test small to medium-sized vehicles, delivering precise and repeatable results
- Support for customer-specific test plans in addition to standard requirements
ISO 16750-2
Stancer Testing-Lab relies on its sophisticated testing system for performing comprehensive set of electrical tests designed to verify the robustness and reliability of automotive electronic equipment when exposed to real-world vehicle power supply conditions. These tests cover steady-state and transient supply voltage variations, including overvoltage and undervoltage, voltage drops and short interruptions, and reset behavior as well as dynamic operating conditions such as engine starting profiles, momentary voltage dips, and slow voltage changes. Testing against severe electrical disturbances including load dump, superimposed AC ripple, and repetitive transient pulses is offered by our Lab.
