Harmonic and Flicker Testing (Emission and Immunity)

Harmonic and flicker tests are performed to ensure that electrical and electronic equipment meet the emission and immunity requirements of international EMC and grid-compatibility standards. These evaluations verify that products neither introduce unacceptable harmonic distortion or voltage fluctuations into the power network, nor become susceptible to power-quality disturbances such as voltage variations, interharmonics, or frequency fluctuations.

Benefits of of Harmonics and Flicker Testing

Prevent network distortion:

Ensure that the equipment does not introduce excessive harmonic currents or voltage flicker that could destabilize power grids or affect other connected devices.

Improve system compatibility:

Confirm that products operate correctly when exposed to distorted or unstable power conditions, ensuring immunity to real-world power quality disturbances.

Protect sensitive electronics:

Reduce the risk of overheating, malfunction, or premature failure caused by voltage environments rich in harmonics or exhibiting flicker.

Increase field reliability and user experience:

Minimize visible light flicker, unexpected resets, and functional anomalies in end applications.

Meet market access requirements:

Provide accredited and traceable data required for CE marking and international EMC compliance for global product distribution.

Support robust product design:

Early detection of emission and immunity issues helps engineers optimize power supplies, filters, and control algorithms before mass production.

Our Process and Testing Capabilities

As an ISO 17025 Accredited Lab, our capability for harmonic/flicker emission testing covers single- and three-phase equipment with a rating current up to 32 A (3-phase) in full compliance with IEC/EN 61000-3-2 and IEC/EN 61000-3-12, IEC/EN 61000-3-3 and IEC/EN 61000-3-11.

As to immunity testing, we can perform testing on equipment with rated power up to 30kVA and rated voltage up to 600 V(L-L) and in full compliance with IEC 61000-4-13 and IEC 61000-4-14.

These capabilities allow Stancer Testing-Lab to perform compliance testing on a wide variety of products such as industrial machines, household appliances, power converters, IT and audio/video equipment, lighting systems and more.

Our experienced EMC engineers oversee every stage of the process, from equipment setup and testing execution to data analysis and final compliance reporting.
